Mayor Torben Höbrink calls the volunteer fire brigade's new training center a "just for once" project.Well, the system was set up quickly.But what he means: how quickly and unbureaucratically such an approved leader application is processed.Quite different from many other funding measures.Werl - It's long since finished, the combination of overseas containers in which the fire brigade can soon go through those horror scenarios for practice purposes that everyone wishes would never become reality.On Thursday, representatives of the city and Leader set foot in the container facility for the first time.They didn't get to see much inside.The containers are still just stacked containers, but are intended to alternately represent a commercial or residential building."We want to set everything up accordingly," says defense chief Karsten Korte, "with a bedroom, living room, children's room, kitchen, in such a way that everything can be rearranged again and again, for example with mobile partitions or the addition of a garage, so that the emergency services can be faced with new situations after several exercises.”A large part of the material needed for this is already available: “It comes from the scrap yard.The local dealer already thinks of us when something comes in that might be suitable for us.” In general, the entire system is variable and can be dismantled, it can be reassembled directly elsewhere, “and if someone scratches the wall here during the exercises leaves, then that's not a problem," is an advantage over exercises on real buildings.The construction was also fun, not only for the firefighters, but also for the companies involved.Korte: "They don't do something like that every day."What ultimately pushed the price down is the fact that the Werler troop is not a professional fire brigade, so they all have other jobs: "From bankers to surveyors to electricians, we have everything with us," says Korte.“You have to show one of them maybe three times how to use pump pliers.In return, he is then three times as fast on the computer.”A lot of personal work from the ranks of the Werler firefighters was also put into the training house.Only the roofer who made the containers watertight came from the colleagues from Warstein.In return, they can let off steam on the facility from time to time.Korte: "We already have a lot of inquiries from all over Soest district." For which, of course, the colleagues from the surrounding area first have to travel.There are no such travel costs for the Werler Wehr - even if at the moment, due to Corona, training can only take place outdoors.So it will be a while before the first ones can let off steam in the exercise house.Korte: "But it is much easier to comply with the hygiene concepts when doing exercises on your own premises."The costs amounted to 20,000 euros, 20 percent had to be raised by the fire service itself, not including their own work (320 hours).The remaining 80 percent funded the measure as a small project for the implementation of the regional development strategy of the leader region "Börde meets Ruhr" within the framework of the "regional budget".The application stated at the time: “After a fire breaks out, the fire brigade only has 17 minutes to rescue people from smoke-filled areas.There is the so-called resuscitation limit for a person in the fire smoke.After the alarm has been raised and the fire brigade has arrived, they usually have little more than 6 to 7 minutes to find a person in the smoke.This requires realistic and intensive training.Fire protection assistants can also be trained here.The youth fire brigade can be further motivated and tied to the fire brigade through this realistic type of exercise.This applies in particular to the older cohorts shortly before the transition to active military service.Unfortunately, in the past some of our comrades got lost at this age.” The facility was built by the Fröndenberg company CG Containerbau Gerbracht.The defense was supported free of charge by the Werler contractor Bernd Schriek and the Werler Kranservice Zeller.
